The Bird Hide, Llangorse lake, Wales
The bird hide was funded by the Prince's Foundation for building community. The project was designed by students who attended the Prince’s Foundation’s 2011 summer school.
The Bird Hide aimed to replace an existing structure that had fallen into disrepair, growing reeds were blocking the views for bird watchers.
The chosen design was constructed by the Building craft apprentices through a 3 month live build project. The project included crafts such as dry stone walling, green oak framing, hand forged ironmongery and thatching.
The bird hide was officially opened by HRH the Prince of Wales in Feb, 2012.
